The Last Quarter!

Welcome to the last quarter!  Wow!  We're in the home stretch of this very strange and challenging year.

SENIOR DRAMA:

We had a nice start to the quarter with a review of ways of presenting material.  This is important to remember as we start to work in our individual disciplines.  (Remember, if you want to switch your course within the Senior Drama class, just let me know and I will advise the counsellors.)

Because we only meet every other day, some of you will not be here on Friday and of course, this week, no one (except me) will be here on Friday.  This is your journal for the first week:

Which special day in this last quarter should we commemorate?  I am thinking we should do something for Grade 7 Fun Day -- we could film it and send it to our feeder schools.  What do you remember about your grade 7 fun day?  (If you didn't go, say what it was like when you first came to Steveston-London.)  What sort of presentation could we do about drama for new grade 7's?  (Give me a couple of ideas.)

You have seen the films that have been entered for the WAG.  Which film is the best?  Give me a reason for your choice.

The journals are due on Tuesday of next week.  You can hand them in on paper (that's my preference) or you can send them to me electronically.  If you email me and don't get a response, make sure I've seen them.

Enjoy your long weekend.

All, all, all are (still) sleeping on the hill.

Still can't figure out how to get Spoon River downloaded, but lots of people have asked for a second showing, so I am presenting performance number two (on Zoom) on Friday (Shakespeare's Birthday), April 23 at 7:30.  If you haven't already seen it, try to tune in.

Jean Kosar is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

Topic: Spoon River - second performance!

We are in the last few days of Quarter 3.  Please be sure to hand in all your journals by Friday and finish reciting whatever you need to recite, and perform whatever you need to perform and hand in whatever you need to hand in.   I want you all to do your very best.  Remember that learning your lines just requires a bit of practice and you won't remember what to say unless you understand it and practice it on your feet.  If you are doing a scene, you really need to listen to the other actor and react to what they say.

Last journal

Next week, we'll be doing the extended role play and your final journal will have two parts -- first, write about how you plan to play your character.  I hope my youngest son will help me figure out my wardrobe because I do not have good clothing instincts at all!  Then after the role play, finish the journal by writing about how the role play went.  Please include any people with whom you interact and write about how they created their characters as well.

Senior Drama:  Please write about your current events scene (Journal 5).  How did you do?  What did you intend to do?  Why it the story a worthwhile current event?

All, all are sleeping on the hill!

At last, our film of "Spoon River Anthology" is available for viewing.   We will have a Zoom showing of the film on Sunday, April 18 at 2 p.m.  It has been a long, arduous process, but I am so excited about finally being able to see it with all of you.  If you are available on Sunday, please follow the coordinates below to see the film. If you can't, I will post a link to the film on my You-tube channel after the debut.  Thanks to all the cast and crew for your contribution to this "unprecedented" performance.

Jean Kosar is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

I forgot to assign a journal, but I would like you to write about what your intentions were with the current events scenes.  Remind me of this on Monday.

Drama 9:  Journal -- Are you nearly ready to present your commedia dell'arte project?  What still needs to be done?  (Make a list.)  Who is doing the most work?  Who is doing the least work?  What is the funniest moment in the play?  What is your own lazzi?  Be honest -- is it funny?  Explain.
