Journal for May 22, 2026

Senior Drama:  What scared you about starting high school?  If you can't remember anything, use your imagination to think of what it might have been, or what a person might be concerned about when beginning a new endeavour.  Write the story of your worry following the plot line, with a clear introduction of characters, rising action, climax and denouement.

Drama 9:  Write about your performance of your third story.  What went well?  (Think of at least two things.) What do you need to improve?  (Think of at least three things.)

Drama 8:  Which fairy tale did your group choose to perform?  Why did you choose that story?  (You need at least one reason.) Who did you play?  What did you actually do as that character?  (You can describe your costume, or actions you mimed or facial expressions you used.) Which other group impressed you the most?  Explain why.

Journal for May 8, 2026

Theatre Production 11/12:  Write about the concept you have for your sound and light show.  Describe it in five sentences (at least).  Include the broad idea (a space ship crew lost in the Andromeda galaxy) and ideas about how you will present it.  You may work with a partner and you can think about which actors you might use (if any) and include ideas about how it will look and sound.

Directing and Scriptwriting 12:  Hand in your play about the childhood event.  Think about which actors in class might be able to play the characters.  Why would the actors you choose be right for the roles?  Explain how you think it might be staged.

Actors 10/11/12:  Read through your scene.  Who will you play?  What's going on in the scene?

Drama 8:

On a scale of 1 - 5, with 5 being great and 1 being not at all great, how would you rate yourself at working in a group?  Explain why you rate yourself that way.  What skills can you bring to group work?  How can you improve?  (We all have skills and we can all improve.) Would you say you are a good leader?  Explain.  Write about a time you worked in a group and what you learned from it.

Drama 9:

What would make a good framework for your heritage plays?  Think of how you can include all the stories in one presentation.  Which story is most dramatic?  Is there a funny one?  Which is that?  Is there a romantic one?  How will you manage that?

Journal for May 1, 2026

Senior Drama:  Write a review of one of the First Line, Last Line Scenes.  You need a title (like "'Welcome to the Art Gallery' is a Wild Ride") and then describe what you saw.  Start with what you liked and finish with what wasn't so great.  Make sure to mention details.  You can write about your own play, but pretend that you saw it!  If you are on vacation, write a script based on an event from your childhood.  It should be about three pages long.  Make sure you focus on plot.

Drama 9:  What went well with your British panto?  What could have been improved?  Write about one of the other presentations.  What did you like about it?  (say two or three things).   What needed to be improved?  (say two or three things) If you're on vacation, make sure you catch up with your journals.
