Drama 8:
Which of the Aesop stories has a lesson you think you would benefit from learning? Explain why you need to learn it.
Draw four faces that show these emotions (happy, sad, angry, afraid) and label each one.
Drama 9:
Write a brief (5 - 10 sentences) monologue as if you were one of the characters you are playing in the heritage project. It could be the character you're playing in the framework or in one of the stories. The monologue should give us insight into the life and thoughts of the character.
Senior Drama:
Directors/Scriptwriters: The British panto form involves encouraging the audience to participate in the performance (singing along with the songs, boo-ing the villian, cheering for the "good" characters, the classic "call and response" lines, like "look! he's behind you" or "she's lying!"). Think of three things that you can do to get the audience to participate in your panto.
What is one aspect of modern life you would like to make fun of? (Last year, we made fun of how the world sees Canada as polite, law-abiding and respectful.) Why?
What does your fairy tale plot make you think of?
Theatre Production: What will your panto set look like? (Draw it and use colour.) It is nice to include a "pantomime" animal (like the horse that is played by two people). Could you include an animal in your play? (Jack and the Beanstalk has an obvious one.) How would you costume the "trousers" role (the "hero" usually played by a girl, but not necessarily these days)? What about the "dame" role? (an old woman, usually played by a man). Who is the villain? What sort of costume would they have? Remember, a panto isn't subtle. Draw your costumes.
Actors: Choose a famous person to imitate. How would you incorporate the character into your panto? What would you do to bring the person to the audience's mind? (An obvious choice is Donald Trump, of course. He has an accent - he's from Queen's in New York. He wears recognizable clothes. He has certain gestures we associate with him, certain words and phrases he repeats, even subjects he likes to talk about -- like the reflecting pool.)
